11 weeks left

wow it is insane to think that all I have left is 11 weeks, 9 months and 3 weeks ago I arrived and didn’t really know what was going on now 9 months and 3 weeks later I still don’t know what is going on…. lol just joking I am now a trainer and actually trained my first trainee.

so since I last updated it has been hectic busy not really with work but with life overall, so during that time I worked on 3 plays back to back, went to school, learned to be a trainer and worked.

Plays: so my last updated I told you about STAGE and Ernest will the director from “Ernest” asked me if I wanted to help on a play he was costume designing at a theatre in town so I helped out at Osceola Center for the Arts with their Christmas show “White Christmas” at the same time an actor from “Ernest” asked me to stage manage their Christmas show “Christmas Cabaret” so I was doing both plays at the same time, I was being shared half the week I was with Brian the Costume designer doing “White Christmas” and the other half of the week I was with Kimille doing “Christmas Cabaret” needless to say I forgot what a day off actually felt like, however both are now done and I am back to having time off so now I need to figure out what to do with my days off and nights.

School: I took a Disney course called "Entertainment Production” it was a 8 week course and it took us on a backstage tour of “Fantasmic” which was awesome, we also got to meet a lot of the producers and casting directors for Disney. My personal favourite networking day was getting to meet the artist of Mulan which is my favourite movie.

Trainer: So I did my Train the Trainer Training and it consist of one four hour class which was a bunch of e-learning and then listening to them tell us what a trainer is and does, then we did a 8 hour class that taught us how to teach and then took us to Mouse gears where we did a basics walk as trainers. the final step was a trainer shadow where I followed a trainer around and they told me how to train people.

Trainee: So after my Trainer shadow I had one day off and then the day after that I had a trainee her name was Becky and she is really nice and caught onto things fast so I think she will go far.

Work: So now that Christmas is sneaking up it is getting more busy and therefor we have more hours, Christmas day I will be working a 9 hour and 45 min day and on new years I get to be off at 5pm so I can see the fireworks.

Will that’s it for now;

Food and Wine, S.T.A.G.E, and work

So I joined the S.T.A.G.E club that Disney has to offer they are putting on “Importance of being Ernest” and when I was originally brought on I was to be one of the Assistant Stage Managers, but apparently what I was taught at school and what they see here are two different things so because I was doing more then what I was suppose to they moved me up to the Assistant Director job, which is a higher position then a Assistant Stage Manager. Every Tuesday-Saturday I have rehearsal so basically I go to work and after work I go straight to rehearsal meaning that I leave the house at 9 in the morning and get home at 11 at night, it is tiring but I am having a blast. I was asked if I wanted to help with costumes with a musical that a local theatre company is putting on so I will get a chance to see other people besides Disney people.

At Epcot right now is the Food and Wine Festival there are 28 different booths of different nations and each one has wine and some type of food and then there are a few booths of just beer, so that means we get very drunk people. I have tasted a few of them and it is not bad, I’m hoping to taste some more soon but right now it is busy and I run away after work.

At work we were giving Kidcot yesterday because attractions was so short staffed that they only ha 3 people on, it was a change of pace and a position that you do not get yelled at for sitting down at.

I also reapplied for a trainer position again so this will be take two and hopefully I can get it this time, my leaders are rooting for me and one told me that all the questions will be the same so at least I know what will be asked, just make sure I don’t tell anyone else the questions, but there was only one other person I was scared of applying since she is over the top happy but she is not so I stand a chance.

The weather is starting to cool down so that we are only in the 90 and not in the 100 so that’s nice at least were not sweating like mad anymore.

will that is all for now,

wow I swear I didn’t forget about this blog…..

Hey all;

I am soooo sorry I haven’t updated in a while but here I am an I swear I will try harder to update more often.

So we got 2 new merchies who have started and one seems to fit in with us while the other one has already asked to move so we should see how that goes.

It was my Birthday a few days ago and Carrie (a fellow Canadian merchie), Chris (another merchie), Leanna (a UK food and beverage) and I went to Crystal Palace and ate breakfast with Winnie the pooh and friends so I got a picture with Tigger, Piglet, Eyeor and Winnie. We also took part of the Pooh-parade which had all the characters going around the room and there were three 4 year old kids and then my friends, since it was 3 out of 4 of ours birthday within 2 weeks of each other we all got birthday cupcakes and cards signed from the character. That day I also bought a pooh bear and then went and got the duffy Canadian costume and made pooh bear Canadian where he should be in the first place.

I got in touch with the S.T.A.G.E club here at Disney and am now the Assistant stage manager of the play going to be put on, we are going to be doing “The importance of being earnest”, so there is rehersal 5 nights a week but I don’t have to be at all of then since my schedule does not allow that but the one I can make then I go.

We have a giant crane sitting behind our back office so now we are only able to enter the store by going around and on stage so it become very very annoying at some times, the crane will be moved in Dec. so we still have 3 months to deal with it.

I found out that as of next month I will have a new home when I go back to Canada, My parents have bought a condo and are selling the house so I will have to memorize a new address and figure out how to get around town from there (good thing I have a GPS unit).

Will that is all, I will hopefully get to putting up photos soon.

new phone

so lets see what has happened since I last updated,

- we got a few new cast members in Merch. I will meet them on Friday for they didn’t come to the throw in and when they start training on Sunday I have that off and they they have merchentainment on Monday and Discovery day on Tuesday and then the will be off Wednesday and Thursday for that is when there trainer has off so Friday will be they day I meet them, one is apparently 50 years old and they other one is 23 and married so this will be interesting.

- I actually have a 3 day weekend for one girl wanted some more hours and I wanted a long weekend so I gave her my shift.

- A few of my new Co workers have asked me why I didn’t become a trainer apparently I have taught them a bunch of things with out knowing it, they said I had a very good way of explaining things. so what I figure is that even if they didn’t pick me to be a trainer at least I can still help out the new people.

- I got a new phone it’s with metro pcs and it was $29 and I will pay $60 a month which will give me unlimited everything including unlimited text and call.

will that’s it for now.

if you have any questions or comments let me know.

Winnie the Pooh and Harry Potter.

So in the last few days I have been working. But here are a few things that have happened:

- I got into the course I wanted, it is a course called “Entertainment Show Production Professional Development Study” (https://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/education/edu_pds.html) when I applied for it they put my name onto a waitlist and then picked the students who have majored in theatre and show production, I have majored in theatre so they let me into the course, It should start end of Sept. or beginning of Oct.

- my room mate is gone for a few days and it was a spur of the moment thing, her husband surprised her for their 30th anniversary, yesterday he came and surprised her at work so she got home and told me she was taking off for a few days so now I have the apartment all to myself which is actually weird  and I know by the time I get use to it she will be back.

- Brazilian tour groups are EVERYWHERE, and I mean everywhere they are at EVERY park and even at the outlet mall that is across the street from housing. Every day they are at Epcot and they travel in packs of 50 so when we make one bracelet all 50 of them decided they want one, even on days off you can’t get away from them you will run into them at all the Disney parks and also at SeaWorld and Universal. We will also go across the street to get to the outlet mall and there will be about 200 of them sitting in the middle of the walkway.

last thing

- today I went to see Harry Potter and Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh was a little of a disappointment and Pooh bear is my favourite character. but Harry Potter was awesome, I went to see it in the dine in theatre in downtown Disney, it was cool you sit down pick what you want to eat and you have a call button to call your server and you can call them anytime during the movie except the last 45 min. The were also serving there version of Butter beer but I like to stick with universals butter beer. But I was not disappointed with Harry Potter at all this movie they did it right I can’t wit until it comes out onto DVD which I think will be around Christmas. If you haven’t seen Harry Potter yet I suggest you go out and see it.

Will that is all Tonight is games night and we are going to be doing a scavenger hunt so that should be fun.

Cheers;

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

I am Alive.

Sorry I haven’t updated in a very long time but I am alive and here I am.

So I applied to be a Disney Trainer, and had my interview it wasn’t that long they had 7 major questions, however I didn’t get the trainer position for I apparently wasn’t bubbly enough, so in Oct. there is another chance and I plan on being really really bubbly.

So we have 2 new people and on Tuesday I believe we are getting one more person.

We had a merch dinner so it gave us a time to get to know each other outside of work.

On July 1st it was Canada Day and when I walked into the pavilion I almost cried for the Pavilion was surrounded in flags, there was a flag for all the provinces and territories, and the Canadian flag everywhere you looked. We had Canadians coming in by the dozen (lol ok maybe it wasn’t that much, but we did have a lot of Canadians coming in), Disney set up a special lunch for us, they gave us pizza and the cheddar cheese soup that is served in the restaurant and some mickey bars, everything was as much as you can eat so that was cool. The day made me feel so proud to be a Canadian and also made me really home sick.

On the 3rd I went to the Magic Kingdom to watch their advance 4th of July it was insanely busy, but the fireworks were awesome and my goal is to get all the special fireworks on tape, so that is all the holidays.

On the 4th, Epcot was not as busy as I thought it would be but it still was busy, I had to do the money drop after closing but my manager was really nice and let me and the others watch the 4th of July fireworks first and the fireworks at Epcot were loud and cool after the final the ground was actually shaking.

I went to a friends birthday a few days ago and we went and have breakfast at Norway's Princess breakfast, it was cool when you come in you get a picture with Cinderella and when you sit down you get a plate of food and you also get to go to the buffet and eat as much as you want and as we ate we met a few more princesses, after breakfast we then walked around Epcot before heading over to Magic Kingdom, we then went to the Polynesian which looks like a wonderful place to stay at.

Yesterday I spent the day at Downtown Disney and also went grocery shopping, and today I went to animal kingdom, we are now in the months where we are being over taken by Brazilian Tour groups and they are EVERYWHERE they are at Wal-Mart, they are at every single Disney park, they are at Sea world, Universal and even the Outlet mall across from us. At the Animal Kingdom I was eating lunch and my table ended up being hijacked by one of the groups, I admit though they asked I said they could sit but it’s funny that the group I was trying to get away from was taking over my table.

I don’t work much closing shifts anymore so that means that I should be able to update a lot more often.

That’s it for now,

Cheers;

Good Night.

Sugar Mama

Hey so I realized I haven’t updated in a while but there is a reason for that and that reason is ….. no time, we have been short staffed in Merch since we lost 3 people about 2 weeks ago, we got 3 new people in last week but this week is the week they started training so for about 3 weeks we each have been getting about 60 hours a week. Next week actually looks nice and is only at 39 hours but that is ok with me, for then it will give me time to do things I have been stalling on.

So as I said we got 3 new people who started, they seem good and we will be getting a new one next week as well.

I went to a information session to become a trainer and put in the paperwork for it so on June 25th we will be told if we move onto the interview stage, hopefully I get though and become a trainer for I really miss teaching.

We had a throw out tonight and I got a basket full of baking stuff and also a title, if you are Canadian you will hear the titles like; ie. Drunk girl, Captain Canada, Rum guy, and so on. Captain Canada is the person who will run all throw ins and throw outs. There is also the title of “Sugar Mama” which is there person who will basically bake random stuff for the pavilion, it is mainly cupcakes for the new Canadians at the throw out but they also bake b-day cakes and so on. Our Sugar Mama is now at the end of her program and needed to throw it down to some one else, will it was discovered that I love to bake so now I am the new Sugar Mama and will be baking for all the throw in.

I get to work open to close for the next 3 days so this will be fun,

I will try to update more often, please comment or ask questions.

weeeee lots and lots of hours

Hey so apparently for the next 3 weeks I will be making money but have no time to spend it, we are losing 3 people tomorrow so that puts us understaffed, this week I am working 55 hours, next week I am working 60 hours and the following week I got the heads up I might be in for 70 hours for 2 people are taking vacations and even though we are getting 3 people in we are also taking people out of rotation so they can train them.

I went to Sea World on Monday and there was a promotion that you could pay for a day and get in for the rest of the year free (rest of 2011) so now I get access to Disney, Universal and Sea world, so now when I actually start getting days off again I can go to any park.

sorry it is short right now, I will up load some photos later.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask them.

Cheers,

Good Afternoon, and

Harry potter world

So I went back to work on Friday and one of my coworkers had left, her last week of the program was the same week I went back home but she did leave me a leaving note in my leaving book ( it’s a book that everyone who I meet and make friends with can write in when they leave at the end of their program) this week we will be loosing 3 more.

The new girl who was just earning her ears when I went home, has now earned her ears and is in rotation but the CDS is being annoying like it was with me and is not allowing her to pick up engraver positions. so hopefully it takes less time for her to get it worked out then it did for me.

on Monday (yesterday) I went to universal with a friend, though I should say that we only really did Harry Potter World, but I bought a annual pass on the flex plan (means that you put down a down payment of $115 and then every month they charge a credit card $12) but because I now have a annual pass I can go when ever I want, which is great for I am now addicted to Butterbeer, and I have found things I like to buy.

Today (Tuesday) I went to walmart and got some lunch items, I also did some laundry and just stayed inside for it was HOT out today.

These are pictures of Harry Potter World.

Good bye Baba, I love you.

So this week I experienced what happens when something happens to a family member when you are here in Orlando working. On the 11th of May I got the phone call that I never wanted to hear and that is that my Baba (grandmother) passed away, I was at work at the time with 4 more hours of the shift, I talked to my manager and they gave me a early release that day and the day off the next day so I can work out what was going on. It turns out that the bereavement policy is 5 paid days for out of state and 3 paid days for in state since my family was in Alberta I got the out of state policy so that I could travel home, you need to fill out a purple form and then get your work to fill out a section and housing to fill out a part and then you show it to immigrations when you come back into the states.

so the time line was on Wednesday the 11th I found out the news and was ER, on Thursday they gave me a day off and and a friend dragged me out of the house, Friday and Saturday I worked my shifts and then on Sunday I headed home. Monday and Tuesday was family time and wed. was the funeral then on Thursday I flew back to Orlando, On the plane I sat next to a little boy who was going to Disney and I gave him a Mickey sticker.

I’m glad I went home for if I didn’t I would have regretted not going for I was very close to my Baba since I was a kid I have either seen or spoke to my Baba every few days, so the simple fact that now that I can’t call her anymore makes me quite sad.

But on a different note my family might come out to see me in Nov. if holidays can be taken.

Today I go back to work, I have brought some maple cookies back for my coworkers and I have also brought myself back 2 jars of cheese whiz because they don’t have it here, I also got some Canadian chocolate bars and all dressed chips.

will that’s all for this week,

Cheers,

“Honey don’t touch their moose head”

Hey so I realized I am really late in updating so this time around I’m just going to give some brief point on what happened.

* So I heard the a funny thing from a guest, I was ringing a Guest purchase and it was a Moose head that you can put onto the wall (yes we actually sell that in the Canadian store) and there was this little girl next in line who was looking at our NHL playoff scores and she moved the moose’s head out of the way a bit, her mom goes “Honey don’t touch their Moose head” I looked up at her and she looked like she was going to burst out laughing, so I asked her if she ever thought she would say that sentence.

* I went to the Spring Formal, it was a Villain theme so I got some pictures with the Jafar, the evil step-mother, the evil queen and Mickey.

* A girl that I use to work with Self termed, or as I also found out was termed, because she went out and bought a switch blade, so moral of the story no matter how much you don’t like your roommates or living here don’t buy a knife and then tell people about it.

* Because of her leaving my schedule got messed around so when I looked at my schedule yesterday on my day off I suddenly saw that I got a shift for today which was suppose to be my 2nd day off, so I am now working 6 days this week and then 6 days next week as will.

will that’s all for now,

I will try to keep this more up to date.

I would love some comments or questions

Thursday, April 28, 2011

This is going to be a long post.

Sorry it has been a while since I last updated but things have been busy.

April 20th (Wednesday): I worked 11 am to 10pm so I opened and closed and I also learned how to do the money drop which was interesting.  basically you need to scan in all the paperwork and then put the money into the machine which will count it and put it in a safe but if the machine does not take it then you have to do it manually and put it manually into the safe which involves you standing there waving the money bag in front of a camera for 5 sec and then putting it in, all in all it’s not that hard and Canadian’s usually don’t have to do it only when it gets insane do we have to worry about it usually the UK does it for us Canadians.

April 21st (Thursday): I worked 1pm to 12:30am because they decided to move the magic hours to the Thursday, I almost got a ER because someone actually wanted to work the magic hours and asked me if I wanted to give them up and of course I did I had to work opening the next morning anyways but it didn’t work management wouldn’t let us so I ended up working the full hours, and Magic hours get quite interesting especially around 11pm when the beer cart closes down and people still want to drink around the world, we had people yell about how Canada sucks and how we are going to loose at the NHL play offs and so on, my co-worker and I looked at each other and she goes “why does everyone think we only care about hockey, and how is saying we are going to lose at hockey going to get us to give them beer?”  we were watching people who were actually trying to get behind the beer cart to get there own beer but there were security and other cast members to get them out.

April 22nd (Friday): My ear plugged up. And I worked from 11 am to 9:30pm, I only got about 5 hours of sleep the night before and it was really hot out so between not having enough sleep and the heat and then the fact my ear decided to plug up I ended up feeling horrible, I felt nauseas, and ended up having a headache, I got home and passed out, but a good thing was that since it was earth day they had some events going on at work and I got a free backpack.

April 23rd (Saturday): I worked 1pm to 9:30 pm so I got a nice little sleep in , so I felt a lot better. It was really hot again but since I had more sleep I was able to take it a lot better.

April 24th (Sunday) : I worked from 11am to 9:30 am, It was also Easter so housing gave us some rice Krispy treats, the same ones they sell in the stores for $3. There wasn’t as many people as I thought there was going to be in the park, but apparently magic kingdom was packed. The UK and American adventure both has Easter egg hunts going on and the American Adventure also had Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny.

April 25th (Monday) : I was a day off so I was going to go to Walmart and pick up a few things when I ran into AJ from the UK who was going to walk to Taco Time and asked if I wanted to come and he would walk with me to Publix, I never knew how to walk to Publix due to the fact that I get lost way to easily, so I said sure and because I did I now know how to get to Publix and Walgreens with out a bus and also how to get to the Outlet malls. After Publix I went to Epcot and took some pictures of the new additions to the flower and garden festival and I filmed illiminations, and because Magic Kingdoms fireworks weren’t until 10pm and illiminations was at 9pm I was able to also get Wishes at Magic Kingdom as will. When I was waiting for the monorail to take me to Magic kingdom I got into a conversation with a little boy beside me in line, he was about 4 and was playing with a buzz light year glow toy so I pretend he shot me and he started to talk to me about random stuff until the monorail came, they got into the car behind me and I heard the little boy tell the mom “I like that girl, she was nice”, so even on days off you can’t take the Disney training out of cast members. That night I also when to games night which only had a 4 person turn out again.

April 26th (Tuesday) : my 2nd day off, so I went to Animal Kingdom and actually went on the Yeti ride which I surprised myself that I actually went on, and I loved the self guided tours of the animals and the safari ride which was actually not packed for once, I also went and seen the shows, I then went to Hollywood studios and watched “Lights, Motor and action” the car stunt show and then I went for dinner because I don’t eat much I was able to just order a Kids meal and it was enough food for me and it also saved me $4, I then waited in line from 6pm to 7pm to get a seat for “Fantasmic” which I got front row so no heads in the way and the show started at 8:30pm.

April 27th (Wednesday) : I worked 11am to 5pm which was quite cool since it was the first time I actually got off before the park was closed, I also have developed a fan, a girl came back to the engraver and suddenly shouted “Melanie” when she saw me it took me a while to place her since I see a lot of people a day but she was someone who bought some bracelets before that were a pain to engrave and she was trying it again, this time it actually worked or so I thought. So I got my bump out and was walking to the cast exit when they ran up to me and explained that they gave me the wrong spelling so I told them to just go back to the cart and it will be fixed, she asked me if I was going on brake and if she could come back after my brake but I told her I was actually going home and that if she goes back to the cart they will happily fix it for her, but she didn’t want to get me into trouble so it took me a while to get to understand that no trouble will come to me if she goes back. That night was also a good bye party for a fellow merchie this one was personal for she was my trainer and my go to for problems, I also went to the throw out and got the award of being the only Oilers fan (the guy who was handing it down was also the only Oilers fan) so now I am the official Oilers fan until I leave and then I hand it down.

April 28th (Thursday): Today I was suppose to work 10:30 am to 9 pm but I looked and felt horrible so I found out from Andrew how to call in sick and so that means I now have one point on my recorded but I can call in for 3 days in a row and all that is on one point but I am feeling great now ( all besides a dang cough and the stupid plugged ear that I had since Friday) but I am going to see how I am tomorrow and if I am fine then I will be working a 13 hour day so that will be fun, drugs may end up being my best friend tomorrow.

Will that is it,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon and

Good Night.

Wow 1000 Views!!!

Ok first of all thank everyone you got my blog up to 1000 Views so that is cool.

Now lets see what have you missed; well….on:

April 15th (Friday): I worked magic hours which means I worked from 1pm to 12:30am, it was actually a little more busier then normal, more and more people are actually starting to come to EPCOT and go into the World showcase during magic hours instead of just staying at Future world.

April 16th (Saturday): I worked from 3:30 to 9:30, it was insane at the engraver for everyone wanted to buy a bracelet. Cool thing is when I got home it turned out that my roommate made us supper with enough left over for lunch.

April 17th (Sunday):   I worked from 11:00am to 9:30pm which meant that I was opening and closing, that was not cool. we had another position up that never was on before and it was called “Cart Register 2” It pretty much meant that you helped out at cart doing what ever they needed down, now normally when we get a rotation (also called a bump) the order is Cart register to Trading post 1, Trading post 1 to Engraver, Engraver to Trading Post 2, that way everyone has a chance to be inside and out, will with Cart register 2 up, the Trading post 2 will move to Cart register 2…. or at least that is what is suppose to happen but no of course it all goes wrong fro me and I get stuck at trading post 2 for the whole day.

April 18th (Monday) : now normally this is one of my days off but because of Easter and the fact one of our cast members took the week off we all have to work 6 days. So I worked 3:45pm to 10pm, we had Cart register 2 up again so that should tell you the start of my day, I got one bump where I was told to take over Cart register 1 so they could take over Cart register 2 just so that the person on Cart register 2 could go for a break, one of my leaders was there and intersect it and told the person on Cart Register 1 to stay there and that I was going to be Cart Register 2 and I found out that it was the engraver incident all over again where no one changed my skills in the computer, so he did and the computer started to give me the cart register 2 shifts ALL DAY so that was counter productive. but that night I learned another duty of merch and that is that every now and then you will be scheduled to do the money drop for UK and Canada along with some one from the UK pavilion. I was suppose to do that but we were over crowded and they wanted to know if some one wanted a ER (Early Release) and I volunteered, I was so tired that I just wanted to go home.

April 19th (Tuesday): also known as today. I had a day off so I spent it at walmart, but first I went to vista was and picked up my SSN number and new work ID, for all of you going to be coming out, you will go for your SSN appointment about 2 weeks in (at 5am in the morning) and then it will be sent to the Vista way serves center which you will then have to make your way to vista and pick it up but they are really friendly there and they always have freshly made cookies. after picking up my ID I went to walmart where I got a air mattress and a DVD player, I needed the Air mattress because the beds are rock hard and I like to save my back from some pain, and I was getting tired watching movies on my computer when we have a TV so I got a CHEAP DVD player but it works well. I also got the new Harry Potter movie and watched that for the rest of they day until my roommate came home and loved the fact we have a DVD player she borrowed Tangled from her friend and we watched it, it is not that bad of a movie.

Couple of things that don’t fit any where else:

- My very cool camcorder works again, it was refusing to work at my old place but when I moved into here I discovered this week that it actually works 100% again so that made me very very happy.

- I’m trying to get involved with S.T.A.G.E which is a theatre club at Disney that puts on shows every few months.

- Tomorrow I will be working 11am to 10pm so a open to close along with a money drop, sounds fun.

Will that’s it;

Feel free to leave comment and questions and I will answer them the best I can.

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Evening.

Weee No Blog Title Coming To Mind.

Hey, so today (Thursday) is a throw in but I decided not to go to it for security has Canadian’s red flagged. On Tuesday some Canadian’s and French decided to have a BBQ but some people brought out some beer and what not and you are not allowed to have alcohol outside of your house, well Security came and broke up the BBQ and saw the beer so they started confiscating housing ID’s until someone admitted to the beer, we lost one Canadian and 6 French got sent home, there was a Throw out yesterday and apparently it got shut down and so I just know that is what is going to happen to the Throw-in.

April 11: (Monday) I had the day off so I went and got grocreys and went to games night, which turned into a pool party for no one showed up and there were just 3 off us so we decided to just hit the pool.

April 12: (Tuesday) I hung around the house until I got bored and then went to Wal-mart for they had a brita water filter pitcher for $9, I didn’t really do much in the afternoon. I am however trying to get a bunch of people to come with me and try the Kitchen Sink.

This is the kitchen sink it has  8 scoops of ice cream, with all sorts of toppings ranging from candy bars, brownies, angel cake, sprinkles, cherries, bananas, strawberries, etc...AND A WHOLE CAN OF WHIPPED CREAM!

So far I have 4 Canadian’s and a few maybes from others, so this will be my goal to finally try this.

April 13: (Wed.) I worked 3:30 to 9:30 It was a pretty dead day there really wasn’t much people in the World Showcase, we also lost one of our Merch family it was her last day of the program, I will miss her.

April 14: (Thursday) I worked 3:30 to 9:30 and again it was dead we only did one page of engraving when we normally do 3 or 4. We also lost another member of our Merch family but this one decided to self term.

Today (Friday) I will be working 1 pm to 12:30 am which is the magic hours, I really hope attendance will pick up or the shift will be very very boring.

We are going into 55 hour work weeks as of next week so that will be good money, and I changed my direct deposit finally over to my bank.

On Sunday we meet the new Merch cast member so that will be cool.

Will that’s it,

Cheers,

wow I have been here for a Month!

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while I have been working a lot, but lets see if I can fill in the blanks.

April 6th: I had “Safety in Motion” class so in other words it was a class on how to pick up a box for 2 hours, it was really boring. after class I went to work until 9:30.

April 7th: I had a meeting with France, and the UK at 8 am, they gave us free food and we even had a small pot of Tim Hortans for Canadians. at the end of the meeting there were still bags of bagels left that they were giving away so I took a bag, so now I have bagels. I killed 5 hours in EPCOT before I had to work at 3:30 and it was the most fun I had killing time before work usually I would kill time at malls or just looking around the store, it was so cool knowing that to kill time I could look around a Disney park. I am finally on the Engraver so I finally get to do things besides tills.

April 8th: my one month anniversary also was extra magic hours, I worked from 12:45pm to 12:30am, I also got asked by a fellow Canadian if I wanted to move in with her since she needed a new roommate and I was getting annoyed by mine. Magic hours was really boring there wasn’t really anyone in the park after 9 pm.

April 9th: I went into housing a few hours before work to see if I could move into my  fellow Canadians place and they said that because of the new arrive group on Tuesday if I wanted to move I would have to get everything moved on the 9th so I had 4 hours before work to get everything packed and moved my old place and the new place was on completely different sides of the complex, but I did get everything moved over so now I do not have to play “where’s the dishes” every night. I even got to work on time so it was a great day all around.

April 10th: (today) I finished unpacking and am going to work from 3pm to 9pm.

cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night

Finally seen IllumiNations!!!

lets see:

April 3rd: I worked from 3:30 to 9:30, still didn’t get onto the engraver but I talked to my leader and they looked into why I haven’t been put on it so that by Wed. I will be on it. Other then that it was the same thing as normal.

April 4th: I was going to go to Animal Kingdom but my friend I was going to go with got ill so I instead I went to Walmart and bought some groceries and then baked some cupcakes. That night I went to games night with some Canadians and played some monopoly.

April 5th: I had the day off and went to Magic Kingdom with Joe, it rained when we first got there so we went on all the inside rides and then we went to boardwalk and ate at Kouzzina by Cat Cora, which was really good , we then went to EPCOT  and watched IllumiNations which I haven’t seen and I have been here for a month so I decided it was time to finally see it.

That is all, tomorrow I have a class called “Safety in Motion” which will teach me to open a box and to lift it. and then I have work until 9:30 and I really hope they get it worked out so that I finally get onto the engraver.

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

3 days for update

Ok lets see:

March the 31st: I worked from 1pm to 9:30 will actually I was suppose to work until 9:30 but I got a Early Release (ER) instead so that meant that I only worked until 7:30. It rained all day Thursday and so we had the Canadian Merch Cart closed down so that meant that we had 5 people in the shop plus one who was a trainee and her trainer so we had 7 cast members in the shop and maybe 5 people in the shop at any given time, the trainee (Shelby) was doing all the transactions so that she was getting the hang of things so that left the rest of us with lots of time to kill, you can’t really stock if there’s no merch leaving the store. So we ended up playing the alphabet game, and moose toss and other random games like that. About 2 hours into the shift the phone rang and it was one of my managers asking if me and someone else wanted to go home, I said no but one of my other cast mates wanted to so her and one other went home and then at 6:30 they asked me again, I again said no but 2 others then went home, so that left me as the only one on rotation and then Shelby and Brendon (the trainer), my managers came up to me at 7:30 and this time said to just clock out Shelby and Brendon will close up, so I went home and had a good talk with my mom.

April 1st:  I worked 1 pm to 12:30 am, I worked magic hours with Brendon, there’s not really much to say about April 1st, I worked 11 hours and therefore got overtime. It was a nice day so we had a lot more people in the park.

April 2nd: I worked 1pm to 9:30 today, I was suppose to work 3:30 to 9:30 but someone asked me to switch shifts with her and I said sure why not. It was a busy day today and during one of my tasking times I was covering the cart register and Andrew who was at Engraver was helping out a lady and some one wanted a bracelet engraved so I jumped on the engraver and helped them out, it was the first time I used the engraver since the magic hours 2 weeks ago but I was really confident on it and Andrew saw that and said that he was going to put in a word with the managers tomorrow before I get in so that I can finally start picking up the engraver for a position instead of picking up cart register and whoever had cart register moves to engraver, picking up register doesn’t mean any more money or anything but it does mean doing something besides cash for a change.

will that’s it for now,

feel free to ask questions and make comments.

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

642 View, awesome.

So my Blog has been looked at 642 times, now I’m not sure how many of those views were me updating, and trying to figure out the site.

On Monday night I went to Joe’s house and he feed me, and for some people *Cough* Mllyna Skylar *cough* who wanted more info on Joe, he is a very sweet guy who seems to have a personality that is a mixer of two of my friends. It still was raining on Monday night when I went to Joe’s house and some how I got lost in Patterson court so I got soaked, but at least I dried fast.

Monday night I also went to games night which was at Patterson court pool and the only people to show up were from commons so it was quite ironic that we played the game at Patterson but walked back to commons. next week we are going to play capture the flag and one of my France friends want to play as well.

On Tuesday I woke up with the flu that has been going around the Canadian Pavilion and I didn’t have any meds so I thought I was going to have to go to Wal mart to buy some but my Maryane (my France friend) gave me some meds and they helped wonders.

On Tuesday I also put in my request to move into Patterson Court with Maryane in a one bedroom, so now I just have to wait, the good thing is that I don’t have to pay the $50 move fee until they get us the room and we get the key so that’s nice.

Today I was at work from 1 pm to 9:30 pm and it started to rain around 3:30, I was at cart so I had to close down the cart when it started to pour, and then about 30 min later we got the word that we can reopen cart so we did and then around 8 pm it started to pour again so we got the word to just close down the cart for the night.

Tomorrow I work from 1pm to 9:30pm and apparently it is suppose to still rain.

Well that’s it.

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

Update time

So I’m sitting here in my room debating if I should go get groceries since I haven’t done that in 2 weeks and right when I think I’m going to go in the rain storm the thunder hits and I quickly change my mind.

So the system that tells us our assignments for the day still won’t put me on the engraver I am always on a register or on tasking, I really want to Engrave some bracelets, put it will have to let me soon for in the next few weeks we are losing people because it is the end of their program and we are getting new people in and on some nights it is me and a new person so I will have to get on the engraver at some point.

I was going to try to figure out the public transportation system today because I had to go to my bank and get a letter but then I got a call this morning that said that the social security office did not need that letter anymore and that my SSN account was a go, so in 2 to 3 weeks I’ll have the card.

I am getting a home cooked meal tonight so that will be nice since I only have a few things left.

I was going to go to games night but if it keeps raining I think it is going to be cancelled because we have games night outside by the pool.

sorry this one is short there really wasn’t much to report.

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night

I really, really want to move.

I really need to move in with a friend, right now I am ready to strangle one roommate, the internet was on the frizz and I was trying to fix my wireless router and she was plugged into the actual internet box her internet started to act up so I realized that it wasn’t my box so I put down the wireless router and she started to blame me for the internet not working, I tried to explain to her that I just touched my wireless router and not the internet box so what I was doing with my router would not effect her in anyway and if the internet did not work it was because of the actual internet box which I did not touch but she still continued to blame me so I just said “whatever” and went to my room, the internet then started to work. Me and Maryann are going to be putting a request to transfer on Tuesday and hopefully get a one bedroom. However the roommate that was blaming me for the internet I think I am going to stay out of her way anyways for I do believe she is bipolar.

In other news I got a call from my mom and it turned out that the Deployment (the team that calls people in to take over shifts) still had my home number from Canada so my mom got a nice message asking if I wanted to come in early so she called me to let me know, so I started work 2 hours early and worked Extra magic hours where the park stays open until 12 am, I worked until 12:15am. I have now changed my number so that my mom doesn’t get anymore random messages.

I got my first Fantastic card which means that someone liked what they saw me doing and decided to commend me for it, It is very cool that I got on my 3rd shift without a trainer.

I got called in early tomorrow so now I work 1pm to 9:30pm, instead of 3:30pm to 9:30pm.

Will that’s it,

Epic fail!!!

So one Wednesday (23rd) it was my first day without a trainer, but before that my house was filled with housing people, they came in to do the actual inspection which we passed and they gave up cookies, and then the pest control guy came in and did a preventative care spray for bugs, and then last but not least the repair man came in to fix our roof because it was starting to fall in. I started work at 3 pm and finished at 9:30 pm it went well and I spend the day basically playing with kids and talking to parents, a few kids wanted to know how I got the job so I explained the process to them so they might be future cast members. It turns out that even though I learned how to do the engraver position, I won’t actually be tasked to it for about a month. After work I went to a throw in for the new Canadians, one of them being Jessica from http://oneyearindisneyworld.tumblr.com/ you were a good sport Jess. After the throw in I went back home and crashed for 4 hours and then I got up and went to get my Social Security number, which I still don’t have because two things came back and bite me in the butt, one was that I applied to a college in the US and the second was that I have a US bank account, so I have to get a form from the school I applied to saying that I don’t have a social security number and I also have to go to the bank and get them to explain how they open accounts for Canadians without a SSN number, I have 10 days to get it all done and I also have to work for majority of the time, oh one more thing about the SSN number appointment, it is a MUST that you have your birth certificate, one of my UK friends got turned away because she had a photocopy.

In other news My French friend from France and I want to get a one bedroom in Patterson, it is cleaner, newer and cheaper, she is 26 going to be 27 in July and I am also 26 going to be 27 in September, we both don’t drink so it is a good fit. We talked to housing and we still have a few more days before they will let us put in a transfer but they did tell us that there would be a waiting list for one bedrooms, I don’t mind I feel a lot confortable sharing with one person verses 5 or more.

On the side was suppose to be a schedule of my work days but it turns out that something went wrong, if anyone knows of a good calendar for blogs please let me know.

Someone posted that they wanted to know about Joe, Joe is a American friend who I meet at a housing event, he’s part of the American College Program.

I will be working tonight and then tomorrow morning I will be going to Downtown Disney with Maryanne (she’s my French friend) she has rented a car for 2 weeks so that we can go grocery shopping without figuring out how to get it onto the bus. I then have work at 6 pm until 12:30 am.

So that’s it for now,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night

EPCOT on day off and new roommate.

So on Monday we thought we were going to have a inspection because they left us the inspection sheet but it turned out that they were just bringing in a cleaning crew to clean the place so that it looked nice for the new roommate that moved in on Tuesday, funny thing was we already cleaned it for the inspection but they went really detailed so all we had to do for the inspection today was keep everything they way they cleaned it and we are guaranteed a pass.

So on Monday I went to Florida mall to see what there was there and it is quite a nice place, It took a hour to get there and the housing buses are only once every hour one day a week, Monday night I went to games night with other Canadians we played “Bagadash” I know I didn’t spell that one right, I think I’m going to make a habit of games night.

On Tuesday I went to EPCOT (yes that’s right I went to my work on a day off) and I looked at the flower and garden festival stuff below are some pictures.

. PICT0004PICT0005PICT0008PICT0012PICT0017PICT0018PICT0022PICT0029PICT0033PICT0034PICT0035PICT0036PICT0045PICT0046

After EPCOT Joe and I went and watched “Panyo” since I never seen the who thing and then I came home and there was a new girl there , it was my new roommate, she is from the UK and is going to be working in Food and Beverage. I talked to her for a while and she told me she was a very homey person so that might mean there might actually be a roommate around every now and then.

Tonight is a throw in for the new Canadian’s really hope they have found a place yet, first though I have to work from 3 pm to 9: 30 pm, it will be my first day as not a shadow, oh yeah I forgot to say that I passed my assessment and am now fully trained and have earned my ears.

That’s all for now,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

“Just so you know there’s a bird in your shop”

For the last 2 hours of my shift tonight I kept getting told that there was a red cranial in our store, not taking in account that I was already talking to the animal control people who were standing there with a net, people STILL decide to tell me about the bird, my manager came up with a great way to answer that he said “yeah we are soon going to have our own Tiki room”, now I have 3 ways I could answer the customers 1. you don’t say, 2. your only the 100 person to tell me that or 3. it’s because Canada’s log store is homey for it. Now which one do you think I answer …. that’s right number 3 for both 1 and 2 will get me fired.

So today was my last training day and I passed my assessment so I became a full fledge cast member mainly meaning that I no longer am a shadow I will now be given roles by the computer to do, I am still wearing my earning my ears badge mainly because my manager said to wear it for at least 2 more shift and if I feel confidant with all the roles and believe I am good to go then on the 3rd shift in which should also be around the time the new person start, then the badge will be gone and there will be only one new person. The assessment was a 55 question test on the computer and then a few question from the manager when they come to do their briefing.

So I finished at 9 pm today and that meant that I could have watched the fireworks if I wanted but I really really wanted a seat on the bus so I ran to the bus stop and got on the 9:15 bus and got a seat. I get a new roommate on Tuesday and I decided to make her up a little goody bag, I am going to put it on the only empty bed with a welcome sign, I didn’t feel welcome when I first moved in and I want her to at least feel welcome. in the goody bag I put a couple of oranges, some candy and a pack of noodles, it’s not much but it is what I managed to by in bulk for myself and it should at least get them though a day until they can get some supplies, I told them the password for the wireless internet so that they don’t have to waste money on a cable.

I get tomorrow and Tuesday off, Tomorrow I am going to have to make myself vanish for a little while because since we are getting a new roommate on Tuesday they are sending a cleaning crew in on Monday… but we also have our room inspection so this should be fun, I really wanted to do laundry tomorrow so I hope it doesn’t take long until I can come back in, on Tuesday I’m not sure what I’m doing yet. oh but on Monday night I will be going to Games night with some Canadians.

well that’s it,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

Mommy Canada has a scary building :(

Lets see what has happened….. oh yeah training and even more training, so yesterday (March 18th) I learned how to open Canada… yes its true I learned how to open a country Smile with tongue out no put I learned that there are ropes across the steps of Canada and it is Merch’s job to unhook them and then it is attractions job to take them away, but we get to be the one to say “welcome to Canada”, followed by the question “where’s Kidcot?” the 3 most question I hear in a day are 1. “where’s Kidscot?”, 2. “where’s the bathroom?” and 3. “Where can I smoke?” followed closely by “how do I get to O Canada” O Canada for those who don’t know is a 360* movie about Canada. Yesterday I got a register number so I was able to learn to do transactions, which everyone was happy to give me register duty, I learned the different areas there is the Engraver, to anyone reading this going into Canadian Merch and if you think like I did NO you do not need to do it manually there is a computer and you just need to put in what needs to be engraved, then there is cart register and then port one register and sometimes there might be a port two register but sometimes that gets shut down, you might also get the duty of tasking which can be anything from clean the store to go pin trade with kids, every day you will be switching between roles, yesterday and today I wasn’t in rotation because I am in training but for my 2nd halve of my shift tomorrow I will be, the first halve is my assessment to make sure I know what I am doing and to see if I had earned my ears.

Today (March 19) I learned to close the store and the cart I’m not sure who closes all of Canada, I thought because I was going to be working near cart tonight that I was going to be able to see the Fireworks but sadly closing the cart was done under the carts and then back into the backroom of the store so that sucks, but I’m sure I will still see it. So also today I got to work in all the areas and even got to work on the engraver so that was cool, will it was cool until I broke it, I did 3 bracelets and was about to do another and the machine stopped, and we couldn’t get it to work again good thing it was at the end of the night so we were able to just shut it down.

So because I am at the bottom of the barrel for seniority, last person to arrive before me was in Nov. so that was a long time without a new merch person, but anyways because I am low down there I get closing shift for the next few months, there is a new person starting next week so I will already have higher seniority then someone, and apparently come July most of the Canadian Merch are done there contract so there will only be 3 older ones left so in July I move to the 4th highest seniority I know that doesn’t sound special but that means that I won’t have to do that much closing shifts.

I saw that not this Friday but next Friday I will have my first 11 hour shift so I am not looking forward to that one, but for the next few days I will be working 1 pm to 9 pm so that shouldn’t be so bad. In housing news were suppose to have a house check on Wednesday and I figured that’s fine I have all day Monday or Tuesday to clean…. NOPE wrong there is a new person moving in on Tuesday and so they want to check it on Monday, really they couldn’t tell us this before so now I have to get up early to do my share because they will be here on Monday at 9 am to inspect and so that means I have to actually be out of bed early on my day off, baaa humbug, it better be a nice roommate.

Oh so I will be getting a total of 3 hours sleep on Wednesday night because we have a Canadian Throw-in for the newbies (whoot it’s awesome to say newbie for I won’t be in that category anymore) and that will be done by 1 am and then I have to get up at 4 am for my Social Security number, my trainer told me to make sure I sit at the very front of the bus for when we get to the office we all go into the building in order of the bus and that means the first one in is the first one out, meaning I can get out and then sleep on the bus until everyone is done.

well wish me luck for tomorrow actually I guess now it’s today I will be doing my assessment to see if I have earned my ears and then I will be going into the rotation without someone telling me what to do, I think though I might keep my badge that says “earning my ears” that way people might be a little more understanding on why I am slower, but I’ll see how well I do tomorrow for if I am really confident I might just rip them off and go for it, I’ll have to see how it goes.

Well that’s all for now,

Remember I like comments and questions, they are friends Smile with tongue out

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

Days off and Randomness.

So for the last 2 days I just had days off yesterday I went with Joe (a guy I met who asked me out) to Publix and then Subway and then I just relaxed at home, today I went to Wal-mart because I realized I needed different socks for work, my socks are ankle socks and so when the hiking boots go on you can’t see the socks and according to Disney for the Canadian Pavilion the socks MUST be seen so I had to go out and get some crew socks.

Later on in the day Joe and I just watched  “Dark Crystal” for those that have never seen it or those who haven’t seen it in a while I suggest watching it, I forgot how advance it was for it’s time.

Tomorrow …. will actually today (March 18th) I am going to work and it will be the last time for a while I work in the morning because I am the newbie I get the pleasure of the night shifts. I also get the pleasure of the “Magic” (tragic) hours, next Thursday I am really dreading for the night before we have throw in for the new Canadians and that will be done by 1 am and then I have to get up at 5 am and go for a Social Security number and after that I get to go to work until 9:30 pm, I am really hoping that there right and we will be back at commons by 10am so I can at least get 2 hours of sleep since I don’t work until 3pm.

If you look to the side there is now a button that says “follow by email” apparently you just put in your email and it will send you a update when I update. I skilfully required (really meaning stole) that info from Kate on her blog “where dreams are real” so thanks Kate and congrats on getting a positions and can’t wait to see you down here.

Please, Please comment or ask questions, I will try my best to answer them or find out the answer.

Will that’s it,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

Merchantainment, discovery day and Grocery game

First off Congrats to those that got accepted, to those that didn’t – that sucks; but try to stay positive try again or see if there is a different path you are meant to take, and to those on a wait list don’t give up hope; I was on a wait list for 5 months and just before I had to make the decision to reapply or try something else I got a spot, so you never know when you can get it.

Again I’m sorry I left it for a few days so this maybe long, so here it goes.

First of all I never did say how much I pray that the Japanese people are alright, my roommate is from Japan and I am really glad that all her love one and friends are alright.

Monday 14th: I had Merchantainment it is a Disney made word that took merchandising and entertainment and added them together, it means “retail as theatre” Walt Disney wanted shoppers to see a shop as a theatre so he wanted the cast (staff) to always be putting on a show. In the class we basically learned how to use the registers and different ways of payment and other general information that we were going to need to know, then we went and did some e- learning, you will learn to hate the e-learning and the repetitiveness of it, but everyone does it so I just learn to bear with it and get it done.

Today (Tuesday 15th): Today was discovery day at EPCOT however all I can tell you is you take a tour of EPCOT and the rest you have to experience yourself since I was sworn to keep it quite. After discovery day me and a friend went to Hollywood Studios and had lunch/dinner at the sci fi dinner theatre and you actually sit at cars so that’s quite cool. We then went and seen the live show of Beauty and the beast, we were going to go see the little mermaid show but the line was too long so we decided to come back later, it is very cool to be able to say that “oh will come back a different day” the thought of knowing you can get into any Disney park for free is great.

Tonight I went to a event put on by housing, It was called “Grocery Price is right” It gives away free groceries so I figured hey free food I’m there, we all got given ticket and then called out 4 numbers at a time and they had to each guess how much a item cost and whoever won each round got given 3 bags of Groceries, I never got called but they also do “Grocery Bingo” so when they do that I’m going to go. So yeah I didn’t get any food out of the deal but I did get a date so in the end it was worth going.

Tomorrow I’m going out on the date, It is really just a Grocery shopping trip but hey when you live in a tight spaces you take any kind of date. I also have Thursday off and then one Friday I start Training again but it will be back in the pavilion. I will eventually get pictures up but I need to get my camera working again.

That’s it for now,

Cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night

First official week.

Hey so where did I leave off….. oh yeah Thursday the 10th, lets continue then shall we…

On Friday the 11th I had the day off so I ended up relaxing, I was going to go to Downtown Disney but decided against it because I wanted Magic Kingdom to be the first Disney place I went.

On Saturday the 12th I had to get up early to catch a 7:30 bus to Disney University for Traditions, when we got there they checked our photo IDs (oh so you know for the first few days you have to carry ALL paperwork with you but when you get into the job training then you can throw them in a locker and never look at it again) and then gave us a little Mickey paper and told us to take a seat, about 10 min later someone came and grabbed us and took us to the classroom, we saw a union presentation and most of the group signed up for it but my whole table didn’t, I didn’t because I am cheap and didn’t want to pay the $9 a week, after that we saw some more presentations and I got 3 critters for answering questions, I got a Mickey, a Minnie, and a Goofy, the Goofy will be going to my mom when I get back for she loves Goofy. We then went into Magic Kingdom to watch the cast members at work, I’ll tell you this the cast members could see us coming a mile away, here we are a group of people in business outfits walking down the path compared to the dozen family around in shorts and tee-shirts; we stuck out like a sore thumb but oh well we got paid to be in magic kingdom, after that we went to the cast cafeteria, and then went back to the university for more presentation and we ended up getting a surprise visit but someone who gave us our name tags, and after class we also got our cast IDs.  After traditions a bunch of us went to Magic Kingdom to see wishes, of course as it goes the ID’s weren’t in the system yet so we had to do it manual there was about 12 of us so manual took a while. But we did see Wishes as well as Memories and you.

This is where I have to do a slight rant, I wanted to record the fireworks and take some pictures but when I took my camera out to see how much battery it had left I found it to not be working, I tried to charge it; it would not charge, I tried to use it with just the power adapter nothing came on so it somehow got screwed between Monday and Friday it was in my camera bag the whole time and it was working just fine before I got on the plane so I have no clue what happened to it. So I need to call the place I got it from for it is still under warranty because it is not even a month old yet and I need to get them to fix it or replace it.

Today I was in the Canadian Pavilion starting to learn Merch, I’m the only new Canadian Merch to start, I meet my trainer and she then processed to take me for my costumes and show me the Canadian break room, we are sharing with Soaring so I will have to make some friends and see if they will get me fast passes. We then went to the Pavilion and did a tour of it, I then did some e-learning's, which is very boing I think my trainer fell asleep when I was doing them, she then just went over some more info, we then yet again walked around the pavilion to see what the other castmembers were doing that I could learn from, for a little while I just talked to customers, had one who thought we were American's pretending to be Canadian’s and he was from the same town I was so he asked me to name a location in the town that only a local would know so I named a small mall and he now believes we are Canadians.  At the end of the day I yet again walked around the pavilion staring at people but this time was with my manager, who will be testing me next Sunday to see if I have earned my ears or if I need to stay with a trainer longer.

Tomorrow I have Merchantainment which is merch and entertainment mixed together so hoping that it will be fun, then on Tuesday I have my Discovery day which from I know is a EPCOT tour, on Wednesday and Thursday I have it off and then from Friday to Sunday I have training with a trainer.

oh one last thing I have my first room inspection next week and one of my roommates (of course the one I got along with) is moving out and I’m hoping whoever moves in next will be nice.

I am the cat lady of commons, there is a white cat that sits under my window and there is a tortoise shell cat that follows me around the funny thing is it looks exactly like my brothers cat, I called it my brothers cat’s name and it actually came to me so that freaked me out, but my brother still has his cat in Canada so were all good.

will that’s it for now, I swear I’ll try to update earlier so I don’t have this massive blog again, can’t make promise but I can try.

Cheers,

It’s not going to be like college yay!!!

So I meet my last roommate and she is awsome, she has been staying at a friends house because she was getting annoyed with the roommates, I came back from my throw in last night (i’ll talk more about that later) and she was on the couch on the internet so we started to talk and we just hit it off so at least I finally have a roommate that wants to talk to me (unlike 3 years of college, one year of college I lived by myself).

So the throw in last night, it was fun they gave us advice about the program before the throw in and then they took us to it, I’m not going to tell you what happened in case your a Canadian that is coming down, but just know 2 things 1) we are insane and 2) the Canadian group has one major rule for throw in and that is “no pressure” if you don’t want to do something you don’t have to.

So I am getting annoyed with cords in my room, my roommate has one for internet, cable and then I have one for cable and instead of adding yet another cable to the madness I got a very cheap router, so maybe my roommate will get rid of the internet wire and use the wireless.

Today we had paperwork for taxes and we got a lecture about immigration compliance and that pretty much means one thing, “behave yourself or you can end up being deported” if we get termanated we must leave in 24h, I’m not planning on being termed so I am going to keep my nose clean, I’ll still have fun but in a manner that won’t get me kicked out of the country, for I don’t want to go back to the snow.

Tomorrow I have a day off and if it is nice (for it has been raining all day) I’m thinking of swimming or going to downtown Disney, since I don’t need a cast ID to get into that, however on Saturday I will be going to Traditions, and getting my first 8 hours of pay, I will also be getting my ID and nametag, can’t wait for that.

will that is it for now, I’m going to go make some food.

cheers,

Weee!!!! Paperwork.

So it is day 2 and I still haven’t really talked to my roommates and beside the quick intro yesterday I haven’t seen them either. I’m giving it 3 weeks to see if I will finally get to know my roommates and if not I might put in for a move. I might have to start feeding random people, I did it my first year of college and developed some awesome friends, who are still friends now; feed them and they will come.

I went to wal-mart and got a bed sheet and food for I believe in bringing your own food for lunch and it will save money.

Oh I forgot to say yesterday, I am in a two bedroom at commons and that it is the highest rent.

Today we filled out a lot of forms; we filled out a employment form, a application for a SSN #, and a bunch of other ones that are for housing, we also got our housing ID so that we can get on the bus, tomorrow we have another early morning to have a talk from immigrations and also bank accounts, since I already have a US bank account I may have made things harder on myself when it comes to the interview for our SSN # I’m not sure yet how but Disney thinks I may just need to bring my Account info with me, i hope that’s all it is.

Tonight I am going to welcome party hosted by the old Canadian people to welcome us new people in, there is no hazing or anything, however it is free food so I am going Smile

well that’s it for now, between paperwork and wal-mart there wasn’t much done.

cheers,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

I’m here and I am alive

So Chelsea and I finally made it into Orlando and went to Vista way, they are really nice there and help us with our bag and gave us some water and cookies and some apples to take with us to eat later for we didn’t have time to go shopping (we arrived at Vista at around 9:00 and then there is a hourish talk about housing and what the days to follow will be like.

Tomorrow I have to be at the common clubhouse at 8:30 for some more meetings, and then I’m hoping to go to wal-mart since I never actually made it there today.

I am in a 4 person place in commons, I originally thought it was a 6 person for i saw 3 doors but one was a laundry room, I’ll put pictures up eventually. So me and one other girl share one bathroom and the other room has there own bathroom as will so that will be nice only sharing with one person.

I meet some of my roommates and I'm not sure how this is going to play out, one i think is from Australia and she seemed nice, she gave me a tour of the apartment and then ran and she said she is sharing with a English girl but I haven’t meet her yet, I am sharing with a girl from Japan and I thought that would be cool because I always loved there culture but I found out she is never home, she was here to eat and we talked a little and then she went to her boyfriends house.  Currently I am here alone and I am getting a small feeling that this is going to be college all over again were none of the roommates talked. It looks like there is a dishes battle going on for I went looking for a measuring cup to fill up my water pillow and every single dish is dirty and it is either in the sink or the dishwasher.  I am too tired to deal with the dishes today but maybe I’ll give them a washing and get things clean again, I hate to say this since I am not a clean freak but even for me this place is too messy, I think I might give it a clean soon so that it is somewhat liveable.

Tomorrow ( will today – Wednesday the 9th) there is our throw in; in the evening so that will be fun.

ohhh, I have a guard kitty, it sits under my window (I'm on the first floor) and watches out, if someone comes close it meows, i think i might get it some treats tomorrow.

well that’s it for now, I’ll keep you informed on the roommates and what is happening.

Stuck in Toronto!!!

Should have done this on the Calgary plane.                                            Change the Naples to Calgary, the Dubai to Toronto and the Home to Florida and that is me.

Hey guys, this blog is coming from the Toronto Airport which I am stuck in. Last night at 8:00pm I said goodbye to my family for a year and got on a plane for Calgary, got into Calgary early so that was cool, I waited at the gate and then met up with another girl who is going down to Florida with me, we got onto our plane to Toronto and that is when madness hit… first the de-icier has issues and then the plane had a power outage and they had to reboot the system so we were late taking off, we finally arrived at Toronto only to be arriving at the same time our plane to Toronto was taking off, no one told us until we went to security, went though pre-check and customs and no one said anything. Customs was easy to get though I gave them the forms and they just asked some questions, and they they went stamp happy on all they forms putting a visa stamp on my boarding pass, my declaration form and my passport and visa card; the visa card and the passport I needed it on but I’m not sure why I needed it on the declaration or the boarding pass. After we got though customs we went to security where they were about to not let us go for our plane was already gone, they finally said it was ok and to go talk to a air Canada staff, so we found the customer service desk and they put us on the 4:50pm flight, and debated weather or not to put us on stand by for a 11am flight they decided not to and it was a good thing for there was already people who were on stand by and are now on this flight because they couldn’t get onto the 11:00 fight.

One good thing they did though was give me and the other girl a meal voucher for $10 it’s not much but at least it’s something.

So that is it, I’ll update when I finally get to Florida, (if I ever get there Smile with tongue out) by that time I will have been in airports and airplanes for close to 24 hours and this was only suppose to be a 9 hour journey.

Cheer,

Good Morning,

Good Afternoon, and

Good Night.

33 hours!!!!

Wow I have only 33 hours and then I will be in Florida, and then I will be seeing palm trees instead of snow.

In 21 hours I will be at the airport on my way, So I am all packed to go,  had to get my mom to repack for I apparently couldn’t get it all in, but she is a miracle worker who got it to fit.

I found out today that when you try to check in at the airport you have to go by the time of your last flight and not your first, so I can’t check in until 7am.

For the last few days I have been trying not to cry, It is amazing how much things I will miss but I know that I will be having a amazing time.

On Friday I worked one last time and on the Thursday I had my last film class, I have been with my mentor / boss for 10 years (since I took the film classes at 16). It was amazing how the relationship went from student / teacher to friends to family. She was crying I was going to start but I’ll hold it all in until the plane. Sad smile

My mom and I are going to have our last girls day today, were going to pick up last min items and just hang out and talk, It’s weird I’m actually going to miss just sitting with her and watching t.v and not talking, It’s her company I’m going to miss the most.

will that is it,

In 33 hours I will be in the sunshine state Smile

Canada I’m glad you gave me a going away present……

but I want a exchange. I want to give back this weather for some nice weather….. (look out side… see more snow) fine be that way, if you must be evil I will leave (in 7 days).

We are having lots of snow here and it is cold… and I don’t mean “it feels cold” I mean “It is down right cold”.  Couple of things confuse me about the snow fall and that is:

1. For people who were born and raised in Canada, most learned how to drive in the snow and for some reason people forget how to drive in snow, its not as if we don’t see it 10 months of the year.

and

2. It really baffles my might that girls would go out in –33*C weather wearing a mini skirt and a small jacket, common sense says ….. you are going to freeze.

I got a email from the Disney service centre reminding me to get a Visa stamp when I enter Toronto for if I don’t I would have to exit the US and then renter so I am going to stand there until they stamp it, they will not get rid of me.

Will this is a short blog

cheers,

Good morning,

Good afternoon, and

Good night

So as I write this it is 10:00pm so in 2 hours it will be 8 more days.

I got some professional clothing so that I have something to wear during training, I’m also really close to be done packing, by Thursday I should be done.

There really isn’t that much to report,

cheers.

How to get pins

To start with I want to say Welcome to my two new followers, one I'm pretty sure is just following to see if I will eat and sleep (I still say those things are overrated Ana), and the other wants to makes sure I come back.
I was asked by Bones what I wrote in my letters to the MP, MLA and the Mayor to get some pins so I thought I would answer that in a blog this way if anyone else wanted to know here we go.
For the letters I basically just told them what I was doing and how I was going to be helping Canada/Alberta/Edmonton because I will be telling people from all over the world about Canada/Alberta/Edmonton and then I asked for however many pins they could give me.
3 things for the letter:
1. Make each letter personal for each person (MP- letter about repersenting Canada, MLA-letter about representing your Provence and the mayor -letter about representing your city)
2. Lay it on thick about how much you love the Country/Province/City, I told the MP about random facts of Canada
3. Make a joke, I ended each letter with a joke (ie. Will I miss winter.... Nope but will I miss alberta beef.... Hell yeah)
Here is a sample of a letter I sent to my MLA, I basically used this letter but changed it for different people asking for different pins.

To: The Honorable __________

My name is ________and I will have the honour of representing Canada and especially Alberta for the next year while working at Disneyworld at the Canadian pavilion in EPCOT.

This was from approximately 1500 to 3000 applicants throughout Canada, 30 were chosen and only three people from our lovely province were chosen this time around. During my work at the pavilion I will be meeting people from around the world and speaking not only about Canada but Alberta.

One thing about Disneyworld is the trading of pins – staffs are able to give out pins that they have on a sash to anyone visiting the park for a pin and explaining what the pin represents.

My request is to see if I could be able to get about 200 to 300 pins of Alberta to take with me to Disneyworld to give to people from around the world – this give me the great pleasure of explaining what each part of the Alberta pin means from the rocky mountains, to the wheat fields of the prairies and our blue sky – well maybe not in the middle of January with blowing snow and a wind chill

I am proud to be Canadian and especially an Albertan – born and raised in Edmonton and it will give me great pleasure to tell everyone from the world how great it is to be an Albertan

Will I miss winter, most likely not... but will I miss Alberta beef, most defiantly.

Thank you for considering this request,

Sincerely;

_______________

And that was what I wrote to get pins. Hope this helps other people.
Thank you Bones for asking the question.
Keep up with the comments and questions, there fun.

Good Morning,
Good afternoon, and
Good night.
